Elder Knecht has sent his first few letter home! The first day the missionaries are permitted to write a paper letter home and to send it. We recieved it yesterday and he requested it be translated and posted in English so that everyone could hear how everything was going. This was written the 20th of September.

Dear Family,
I am allowed to write today and tell you how it is going. I am really happy to be here. In just one day I have learned so much. Both about the Church and other missionaries. I have a really hard district, except that i'm not really in it. I have to talk to the Branch President about how long I am going to be here. I am supposed to be in for 4 weeks, however they say i'm staying till the 20th of November. I am the only one in my district on my papers, whereas the Zone Leader's says i'm in his. I think it means that i am going to go on the 17th of October with everyone else. I'll figure it out tomorrow. I don't have a companion yet. But that will work itself out soon. Nobody in my district has a companion yet either.
Sincerely,
Hans
